NRI student shot dead in California

Mysuru-based Abhishek Sudesh Bhat, a 25-year-old student was shot dead by an unidentified person at San Bernardino, California, in the US, on Thursday. The victim's family members are facing troubles in brining back Abhishek's mortal remains to Mysuru as the road transport to San Bernardino have been blocked due to bad weather. Hence, the family has approached MP Pratap Simha and deputy commissioner Abhiram G Sankar, seeking their help to bring the mortal remains.

It is reported that an unknown man opened fire and became a reason for Abhishek's sudden demise. Abhishek, who was doing masters in Computer Science at California University, also used to work at a hotel as a part-time. His cousin Ramnath said that Abhishek's body was found in front of a hotel room, where he used to work. It is reported that he was shot while returning home from his work.

The family members told that Abhishek spoke to his father Sudesh Chand, a yoga guru, on phone two days ago and had sent a message at 11.15 pm on Thursday. But, the family got the news of Abhishek's death within 15 minutes of the message. The family also revealed while grieving that Abhishek has huge aspirations in life and with just four more months to complete the course, he also planned to work for a year or two in the US.

Abhishek's father, a yoga guru, is the founder of Sri Upanishath Yoga Centre Trust in Kuvempunagar, Mysuru. Sudhesh has been running the yoga centre for the past 16 years. Currently, cops are investigating the case by looking at the nearby CCTV footages. It is also told that one of the CCTV footages near the hotel showed the attacker and the cops are yet to identify the attacker.
