WHO Welcomes India's Lockdown Till May 3rd

A few hours back PM Narendra Modi has announced the extension of lockdown till May 3rd. People of India expected this lockdown and so they were prepared to be in their respective homes for another 19 more days. The oppositions also supported the lockdown with terms and conditions.

Now this lockdown was also backed by World Health Organisation (WHO). WHO's South-East Asia Regional Director, Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh commended India's efforts and added that it is too early to predict the results of the lockdown but this is an example that India is ready to fight the pandemic.

'In these testing times, the action lies as much with the communities as with the authorities and the health workforce. It is indeed time for each and every one to contribute their best and together beat the virus,' said Poonam in a statement.

India has reported over 10,000 cases while nearly 350 people have died of Corona virus.
