Media Leaks Changed Jagan's Plan?

Ever since AP state government brought a new order reducing the tenure of the State Election Commissioner and thus passing orders removing the existing Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, there has been wide discussion on state government's act.

Analysts have found fault with government's decision to play foul play pertaining to an Election Commissioner. In just a few hours of his removal, there were reports all over in media and social media that government is appointing TUDA secretary Rama Sundar Reddy.

But owing to severe backlash from media and netizens for bringing an officer from Chief Minister's community into the key post of Election Commissioner at this hour, AP government said to have changed its decision overnight.

Jagan said to have changed his plan given that he himself had criticized former Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh by bringing his caste topic and attributing that he is favouring his community leader Chandrababu Naidu under  whose tenure he was appointed as the Election Commissioner.

Considering that his very own words against the former Commissioner would be used to target his decision and considering that local body elections in the state are due and would be resumed once the Covid-19 suppresses and lock down ends, CM Jagan said to have changed his decision and finally opted for Justice Kanagaraj who served as the Madras High Court Justice before retirement.

AP Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan approved his name as the new Election Commissioner as soon as he received the orders from the Chief Minister. Given these circumstance that unfolded within hours of removal of current SEC and subsequent appointment of new commissioner and the drama that involved in between, there is a huge discussion going on among netizens that Jagan had forcibly changed his decision fearing severe backlash.
