AP CM Jagan Urges PM Modi For Financial Aid

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has, on Thursday, held a video conference with chief ministers of all states in India to understand the situation of the Coronavirus outbreak in the country. During this meeting, Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy briefed about the measures taken up by the state government to curb outbreak of pandemic in the state. Also, there was a discussion about the surge in number of cases in last couple of days.

While Andhra reported a total of 132 cases till 10 AM on 2nd April, 111 out of them are either people who attended a religious congregation at Tablighi Jamaat in New Delhi or direct contacts of them. CM Jagan also narrated Modi about the efforts of state officials in tracing their families and sending them to quarantine centers.

Briefing the current crisis in the state, which's led to a huge decline in state revenues, Andhra Chief Minister Jagan has urged the centre to extend financial assistance in these turbulent times. Reportedly, the state revenues have fallen to a negligible low of Rs 2 Crore per day. In fact, the government is not even in a state to pay full salaries to its employees for the month of March.

AP govt promised Rs 1000 to each below poverty line family as a relief in this lockdown period. The state is excepting a financial aid of Rs 1500 Cr by 4th April to fulfill this promise.
