Spiritual guru and self-proclaimed yoga expert, Swami Anand Giri, is a renowned priest at the Bade Hanuman temple in Uttar Pradesh's Pragyaraj. He has been arrested in Sydney, in the midst of his spiritual tour for six weeks. It is reported that Anand Giri assaulted two women, one in 2016, when he was attending a prayer meet in Rooty Hill and another in 2018, a 34-year-old woman.

Anand Giri practised yoga with noted yoga guru, Ramdev and also teaches as a guest lecturer at several universities. His early life says that Anand has spent most of his early life in the Himalayas, taking lessons in yoga. The New South Wales police arrested him on charges of sexual assault and both the victims said that they knew Anand before the assault.
