Finally, Ex CM Kiran Kumar Reddy Joins Congress

Ending his long political hiatus, Kiran Kumar Reddy is back into active politics. Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy, who had revolted against his own party Congress in Feb 2014 against its decision to divide Andhra Pradesh unilaterally and even floated Jai Samaikyandhra Party (JSP) and contested 2014 general elections which got poll drubbing, has rejoined Congress today.

Although there were strong speculations that he would join BJP sometime back, Kiran has finally voted for Congress with whom his family has been loyal with and the party which had made him the Speaker and the Chief Minister of the United Andhra Pradesh.

Kiran Kumar Reddy met Rahul Gandhi in Delhi and joined the party in his presence. This is after Congress senior leaders held talks with Kiran Reddy in the last two months. Former union minister Pallam Raju and Rajya Sabha member T Subbarami Reddy had held talks with Reddy last month before AICC general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Oommen Chandy met him in Hyderabad early this month.

A former cricketer who turned into an avid Golfer in the last four years, Kiran also discussed his possible return to the Congress with his close friends to elicit their views. 'Everyone' is said to be in favour of his return to the Congress fold.

Apparently, Kiran Kumar Reddy has sought a key position in the All India Congress Committee, befitting his stature and the party is said to be positive on it. Kiran is said to be keen on becoming an AICC General Secretary which is yet to be decided by the party high command.

Meanwhile, Kiran's younger brother Kishore Kumar, who was also part of Jai Samaikyandhra Party, has joined the TDP a few months ago.
