AIADMK declares 77 dead after Amma's death

Reportedly, as many as 77 people across Tamil Nadu state died of shock after the sudden demise of their chief minister J Jayalalitha, prompting her party AIADMK to appeal to people to stay calm and be brave.

The party officially declared that 77 people, across the state, either died of grief or committed suicide on hearing the news of their leader's death due to cardiac arrest on 5th December at Apollo hospital, Chennai. A major number of those who sacrificed their lives are young supporters of Amma who're highly benefitted by her schemes.

Besides conveying condolences, the AIADMK party also announced an ex gratia of 3 lakh to the families of bereaved and a sum of 50,000 to the party cadre who attempted suicide and to a person who cut off his finger on hearing the distressing news about Jaya.

This announcement comes a day after the Iron Lady was cremated at Marina beach in Chennai. Following the death of Jaya, her trusted party worker and finance minister O Pannerselvam has taken charge to be the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
