Porngate scandal: MLAs blame media for telecasting MMS

Karnataka: The seven MLAs panel which is put up to investigating the former ministers porn scandal in the Assembly have blamed the media for telecasting the footage repeatedly, though it comes under the violation of right to freedom of expression.

The committee also questioned some media houses why they recorded the content inside the Assembly beyond the official proceedings and why they aired the clip of the ministers watching porn, despite knowing the fact that the content is obscene and unparliamentary.

Karnataka Speaker has imposed restrictions on media by not allowing them to record the proceedings in Assembly. Instead, the house will use its own cameras to record the proceedings, which costs around Rs 25 crores.

Former Karnataka ministers Laxman Savadi and CC Patil were caught watching porn clip in another minister J Krishna Palemar's cell phone during the Assembly proceedings. All the three ministers had resigned after the footage was aired in news channels and a panel was constituted by the Speaker to probe the incident.
