Tenali Ramakrishna BABL looked like a fun film aimed at the masses. But the film turned out to be a terrible disappointment with outdated jokes and dated storyline. Nageshwara Reddy is clearly out of form and Sundeep Kishan's energy couldn't save this insipid comedy.

What is it about?

Tenali Ramakrishna (Sundeep Kishan) is a small time lawyer who is looking for a big break in his career. He gets to save Varalakshmi Devi (Varalakhsmi), a popular politician from a legal tangle, but there's a twist in the tale. Now Tenali has to put her behind the bars again.

This is not Sundeep Kishan's forte. This character suits someone like Allari Naresh and despite his best efforts, Sundeep seemed out of place in this one. He is shown more like a regular commercial hero than a vulnerable lawyer. Hansika has lost all that cuteness and looked very pale in this one. Varalakshmi is repeating herself in every film. Murali Sharma is alright. Posani is good in a couple of comedy sequences. Saptagiri tried his best but his character is poorly written. Same is the case with Vennela Kishore.

Nageswara Reddy has been churning out insipid comedies lately and Tenali Ramakrishna is yet another disappointing fare from the senior director. He couldn't make this one an enjoyable even for the masses. The jokes are outdated and there are many episodes that keeps on going for a long period as if the director forgot to say the 'cut'.

Sai Karthik's over the top music will test our patience. Cinematography is standard. One set song has been shot well. Dialogues are good here and there. Production values are okay.

Thumbs Up:

A few comedy bits

Thumbs Down:

Outdated Story

Silly Comedy Scenes

Dragged Climax

Over the top heroism

Tenali Ramakrishna BABL sounds like a fun character, but it turns out to be a regular mass hero who flexes his muscles time and again and pins down numerous bad guys in each and every fight sequence. The comedy bits shown in the trailer are scattered all over the film and there is not much fun beyond that. Nageswara Reddy introduced various characters throughout the film, but not a single character raises the fun quotient.

Basic plot line is done to death in many films and even the twists and turns can be predicted from a mile. The villain looks very cartoonish right from the beginning. There is no point where the villain seems like a threat to the protagonist. A wafer thin plot has been stretched for two hours with numerous comedic sequences and characters, but none makes it an entertaining watch. Tenali Ramakrishna BABL promises to be fun at the beginning, but it gets boring and tedious as it moves forward.

The director makes a desperate attempt to raise the comedy dose towards the pre climax by introducing characters like Vennela Kishore and Chammak Chandra. But they couldn't do anything because of the stupid writing. Even Sundeep Kishan's character is pushed aside in an attempt to save the film using comedy tracks. What could anybody do when the writing is so pathetic and unfunny? On a whole, Tenali Ramakrishna BABL is a so-called mass comedy that fails to hit the mark by a mile.

Verdict: Tenali Ramakrishna B.O.R.E.
