Agenda for AP Cabinet meet cleared

With Cabinet meeting in Andhra Pradesh pushed to May 14th, the screening committee chaired by Chief Secretary L.V. Subrahmanyam has cleared the agenda prepared by the Chief Minister's Office. The issues included in the agenda were Cyclone Fani's review, position of drinking water in the state, drought and seasonal conditions and the measures to be taken by the government, review of NREGS and employment situation.

These subjects were discussed in detail by the Committee and will be sent to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gopal Krishna Dwivedi for clearance. Meanwhile, the agenda was handed over by the General Administration Department officials while various secretaries from different departments attended the review meeting. The CS has also directed all the departments to send the agenda to all the Principal Secretaries concerned.

Going by the Committee's clearance, the officials and the CMO is expecting a clearance from the Election Commission on May 12th, following which the Cabinet meeting will be held on May 14th. Given that the Model Code of Conduct is in progress in view of the Lok Sabha Elections, it is mandatory for the Election Commission to give approval to any meeting in the state at least 48 hours in advance.

Initially, the Chief Minister planned to hold the meeting on May 10th. But, duo to lack of clearance from the EC, the meeting got pushed.
