AP Hospital Denies Stretcher, Wife Drags Husband

Even before one could forget the tragic story of a man in Odisha who walked for 12 km with his wife's body on his shoulder, and  his weeping 12-year-old daughter by his side after hospital authorities denied him ambulance, similar heartrending incident took place in Andhra Pradesh. A woman is spotted dragging her ill husband to the first floor of the hospital, after the hospital authorities have denied her the stretcher. This was reported in Gunthakallu hospital in Anantapur district.

Going into details, Srinivasachari was working as a security guard in Hyderabad. He had returned home a few days ago, after he fallen ill and complained of stomach pain. His wife took him to the Gunthakallu hospital where her request for a stretcher or wheelchair was reportedly turned down. Since she had no other option, she was forced to drag her husband. Although she started dragging her husband, onlookers haven't come to her rescue. Finally, after a while, Srinivasachari was offered a stretcher.

Reacting to the reports, hospital-in-charge Mallikarjun Reddy was quoted as saying by India Today, "There were five stretchers available in the hospital at the time of the incident and he came to know about this when everything was over." The hospital authorities have launched an inquiry into the matter and took the issue seriously.

The story has gone viral on social media and it reached to the notice of higher officials in the health ministry. More details are awaited.
