Arnab Goswami, arguably the most popular journalist and host on Television, has announced the name of his venture, 'Republic'. It may be recalled that Goswami had resigned as the Editor in Chief of Times Now on 1st November this year.
He garnered sizeable fan following and critics too for his daily prime time debate show 'The News Hour', which commanded dedicated audiences across the country and used to generate over 60 per cent revenue for the channel.
He also hosted a chat show named 'Frankly Speaking', on which he conducted detailed interviews of politicians, sportspersons and film celebrities. Goswami's popular programmes helped Times Now surpass a lot of other channels in the race to the top.
However, for the reasons best known to him and the channel management, he resigned in November this year after working for 10 years at Times Now. He is known for his straight-forward debates and often intimidating the guests with his verbosity during the debates.
Reportedly, Republic will start airing before the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in the first quarter of 2017.
