2 People that Jayalalithaa had Crush on as Teenager

Widespread rumors of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's relationships with senior Telugu actor Shobhan Babu and Tamil actor-politician MGR is known to everyone. This is the story after she turned into a lead film actress. But, here is the interesting part of Jaya's life as a teenager.

In a 2012 interview, when Jayalalithaa was asked about her crushes as a school girl, the iron lady had showed no qualms in revealing the names of two celebs with whom she was infatuated with. They were former Indian cricketer Nari Contractor and late Bollywood actor Shammi Kapoor.

'I used to go to watch Test matches just to see him,' Jaya said reminiscing the days of her infatuation with Nari Contractor, who was considered a glamour boy of Indian cricket during his hey days. Jaya must be 12-13 when she had a crush on him.

Born in 1934, Contractor was a left-handed opening batsman. He made his international debut in 1955. His career however abruptly ended following a serious injury in 1962.

On the other hand, Shammi Kapoor (1931- 2011) was one of the prominent heroes of Hindi cinema. His reign continued from the late 1950s until the early 1970s. He was the younger brother of legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor.

Shammi Kapoor was known for his infectious energy on silver screen and charisma that earned him a huge female fan following. Jayalalithaa must also have been swept away by his charm.

During the interview, she revealed that Shammi Kapoor's 'Jungle' (1961) was one of her favorite movies and the unforgettable 'Chahe Koyee Mujhe Junglee Kahe' song from that film, sung by legendary Mohammad Rafi, was one of her favorite songs.

Tragedy is that Jayalalithaa never got the opportunity and/or time to meet either of her crushes.
